Real Life VA Story; 3 Months Young & Going Strong!

Lately we have had some questions from young mums who are curious, can they be a mum/start a business/make money from home?
Well today here to tell you that you can is a guest blog post from Michelle Key of Consider it Sorted! Michelle only started her VA business earlier this year and I have had the pleasure of hearing of her successes via email and Facebook where we stay in touch.
Now let her take it away!
Whilst I was on maternity leave enjoying my time with Jonathan, I was dreading the thought of having to go back to work in the city. I really did not want to go back!
This is when “Consider it Sorted” was conceived. I did a lot of research into the ins and outs of becoming a Virtual Assistant. I had the experience, I enjoyed doing secretarial type work and helping other people, and if I could have the best of both worlds, spending time with my little man and holding up a career, why would I say no to this?
I started my business in February this year and WOW what an experience it has been so far. I never expected to be writing a guest post for anyone in the 3rd month of launching “Consider it Sorted”!
I will admit that I was nervous starting up a business (as I had never owned my own business before) – when you are entirely dependent on yourself to make it work and generate business, it can be very daunting – the buck really does stop with me!
I’ve had to learn how to manage my time between being a wife, mum and business owner, which at times has been challenging, but it’s so fulfilling being able to work from home and be with Jonathan.
Being a start-up business, I have had to do a lot of marketing to build my brand and start developing a network of clients. I have marketed myself a lot on social media (which has been incredibly successful to date) and have joined a number of professional networking groups. Selling my business and my ideas to people I don’t know has been a step out of my comfort zone!! Not only have I enjoyed it though, I also have found out I am not half that bad at it either!
I honestly cannot believe that in such a short space of time how many people have contacted me to help them with their business! (Never underestimate the power of social media.) The hard work I have put into Consider it Sorted is certainly paying off quicker than I anticipated.
Talking about social media, I have never blogged before until now and I am absolutely loving it – you can blog about anything. If done properly, you really can connect with people! One of the keys for me is that, while I try and keep my blogs personal and interesting, my blogs are always relevant to my business.
So if you are thinking of becoming a Virtual Assistant and wondering if it is possible to work from home, be a mum, a wife and still enjoy life, the answer is YES it is possible!
Are you a Virtual Assistant and Mum working from home? How do you have a balance between working and motherhood?

A BIG thank you to Michelle for taking the time out of her busy day to write this post!
Cheers
